Unplug & Reconnect with Photo Books

by | Jul 28, 2022 | Inspiration

It’s no secret that social media is basically a utopia for connection. Everyone and their grandparents seem to be on Facebook while the younger gen tend to flock to more visual social media channels – like Instagram or TikTok. These sites work like a charm to help besties reconnect or to keep family members who live further away (even as far as in other countries) to stay updated on the current happenings in their loved ones’ lives.

But like all things, social media also has its dark sides. Stalking, catfishing, fake news or announcements… you get the drift (and the less said the better!)

This is why many people are seeking new and alternative ways to safely reconnect – both with themselves and with the people they care about.

Funnily enough, one of the most popular ways these people have decided to go about it is by going ‘old school’ and embracing printed photos in the form of personalisable photo books.

Build an amazing book (no exp. needed)

We’ve come a long way from the days of Kodak cameras and film rolls. Nowadays, even the cameras on your mobile phones are powerful enough to produce crisp, clear and print-worthy photos.

Will the quality of the images taken via your mobile phone be better than a DSLR? From a professional photographer’s standpoint, the answer is ‘no’.

BUT – if you’re an amateur photographer, a parent or a teen who has little to no experience in even using a DSLR camera, rest assured that the photo quality of the pictures taken via your mobile phones is more than good enough to be used to print out a custom photo book.

What’s even better, you can even create your custom photo book straight from your phone.

That means no more having to go through the hassle of transferring files from your phone to your computer first (sure the process usually isn’t too long, but it DOES take SOME time).

To find out how you can do so, read our blog post/tutorial on How to Make a Photo Book Using the Pixajoy Mobile App. The process is so simple that even a 6-year-old can do it!

Share and preserve memories

Here’s where it gets interesting. When it comes to making a photo book, most people think that you’d need to have some big, momentous occasion in order to create a wow-worthy photo book.

The truth is, you don’t.

Sure a big event like a wedding, graduation or even an anniversary would make for a stellar photo book. But there’s nothing wrong with making a photo book to record the smaller, ‘slice of life’ moments. The possibilities are limitless – plus, to make it even more treasure-worthy, you can make it a group project by asking friends and family members to contribute photos or anecdotes.

As you sort through the various photos and reminisce on old memories, you’ll discover that this activity is a great way to strengthen your bonds with friends and family members – bringing you all closer together.

Fill the gap

Even though things are slowly going back to normal (well, as normal as living in an endemic period can get), meeting up in person with family and/or friends can still be rather difficult. Especially if they’re living out of state or even out of the country. This is where the photo book comes in handy.

Help long-distance loved ones reconnect and revive memories that would otherwise be lost in time (and probably in the trash folder of your phone/pc) by gifting them a photo book.

As many of you know, one of the downsides of social media is that it’s very quick. Thousands if not millions of photos are uploaded each day. And even if you do follow a small number of people, that is still a few hundreds of photos to sort through depending on how active the people you follow are.

What we’re trying to get here is that with how easy it is to upload photos on social media, it is just as easy for people to overlook your posts due to the sheer quantity of images made available online.

With a photo book, you’ll be able to avoid all of that and share your moments with your loved ones in a more structured way – while at the same time, giving them something physical to fill in the gap of your absence.

A new perspective

Did you know having a physical photo book can actually help with your mental health and emotional well-being? It might sound odd but its true. During stressful times, being able to find a quiet place to relax with a photo book can help you find some new perspectives on life. By looking through the images, it gives you the time to really ponder and appreciate all the little things in life that bring you joy.

The hit of serotonin you get from looking through a photo book will undoubtedly put you in a much better mood and may even help decrease the feeling of stress.

We hope this blog post has been able to shed some light on how something as simple as a  personalised photo book can do wonders for bringing friends and family closer together.
